Qualcomm Snapdragon 805Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 805, a whole new mobile chipset that will change the Snapdragon 800 since the company's top-end CPU for smartphones, tablets and 4K Ultra HD TVs.

The chipset
has a quad-core Krait 450 CPU, which runs at two.5GHz - more quickly than any Qualcomm processor launched to date, or every other mobile CPU for that matter. A fresh GPU, often called the Adreno 420, will apparently be all around 40% more quickly than the graphics core developed in to the Snapdragon 800.

According to Murthy Renduchintala, Qualcomm's executive vice president, "using a smartphone or tablet powered by Snapdragon 805 processor is like getting an UltraHD property theater within your pocket, with 4K video, imaging, and graphics, all built for mobile.

"Coupled with our
field leading Gobi LTE modems and RF transceivers, streaming and viewing written content at 4K resolution will lastly be possible."

Qualcomm also
uncovered the Gobi 9x35 4G modem, which combines 3G and LTE radios inside a single 20nm chip that draws much less electrical power compared to the company' recent 4G modem.
